Villarroel Arquitectos and developer Palo Alto received the 'Best Residential Project' award for their work on the 'Palo Alto' residential community on Spain's Costa del Sol.
Porcelanosa has honored British architect David Chipperfield with the ‘Honorary International Architecture Award’ in recognition of his extensive career and the excellence of his projects. At 70, Chipperfield has designed iconic buildings such as the Museo Jumex in Mexico City, the America’s Cup building in Valencia, and the restoration of Berlin’s Neue Nationalgalerie.
Known for his cultural and urban renewal projects, Chipperfield was celebrated for his minimalist designs that balance history and modernity, as well as his commitment to revitalizing cities. Following his reception of the Pritzker Prize in March 2023, Porcelanosa decided to pay tribute to the British architect at the 15th edition of its Architecture, Interior Design, and Real Estate Development Awards.
The event featured a prestigious jury that evaluated projects across different categories, with key figures from the industry such as Eva Longoria (Rockwell Group Madrid), José Martí (ERRE arquitectura), and Víctor Legorreta (Legorreta). Among the awards presented, the ‘Best Residential Project’ went to Villarroel Arquitectos and real estate developer Palo Alto for their Palo Alto residential community on the Costa del Sol. The award, presented by María José Soriano, CEO of Porcelanosa Grupo, recognizes the project’s excellence in design, integration with the landscape, and commitment to sustainable luxury living.
Other winners included SHA Wellness Clinic, awarded for ‘Best Hotel Project’ for its expansion in Mexico, designed by Sordo Madaleno and Alejandro Escudero. The ‘Best National Retail Project’ was given to Nude Project for its Lisbon store, designed by El Departamento. The ‘Most Innovative Project’ went to the HALO urban elevator in Vigo, while the ‘Best Sustainable Project’ was awarded to the AURA development by AM Gestió and BCA Arquitectos.
The night concluded with the grand presentation by Héctor Colonques, president of Porcelanosa Grupo, who awarded David Chipperfield the honorary prize, recognizing his lifelong contribution to architecture. Meanwhile, Villarroel Arquitectos and Palo Alto solidified their place among the most prestigious names in residential design with their well-deserved recognition.
